The perfect Thanksgiving wine, Beaujolias Nouveau

The wine for 2022 is described as a brilliant glass of garnet color almost iridescent with purple reflections wine. Pleasantly fruity with aromas of red berries and strawberry marmalade. Fresh and caressing mouth, full of fruit, with a supple juice and a touch of tangy raspberry. A gourmet and fine Beaujolais Nouveau!

A bit of history

Each year, on the third Thursday of November, the world rejoices at the release of highly anticipated Beaujolais Nouveau wines. Bottled just a few weeks after the harvest, the wines are a preview of the vintage to come, as well as a celebration of the bounty of the Beaujolais harvest.

The beginnings of Georges Duboeuf date back to the Mâconnais wine-making days of the Duboeuf family, more than 400 years ago. At a very young age, Georges Dubuf was taught by his uncle and brother how to make wine. He leaves his studies at the age of just 18 to manage the family estate at Chaintré, one of the villages of Pouilly-Fuissé.

He began two joint journeys in the early 1950s driven by his ambition and adventurousness. First, there is bespoke bottling, which is bottling on-site the wine producers’ output whose wine was previously sold in casks. To do this, Georges bought a truck and converted it to house a tiny mobile bottling line. At the same time, he founded L’Ecrin Mâconnais-Beaujolais, a consortium of producers that included winemakers from all the region’s appellations.

Georges started his company in 1964 with Les Vins Georges Duboeuf, propelled by overflowing creative energy and assisted by his wife Rolande. By implementing new techniques, such as careful selection and blending, respect for the origin and labour of the winegrower, and excellent bottling, he became a revolutionary in his field.

Georges Dubuf is still committed to his initial goal of providing premium wines that blend terroir-specific characteristics with an outspoken character. He became the Beaujolais and Mâconnais wine ambassador by travelling the world to promote his wines.

This is a delicate and light red wine. Expect fresh and enticing flavours of raspberries, wild strawberries, red currants and cherries. This wine is designed to be drunk upon release so don’t wait too long!

This wine is hand harvested and de-stemmed. Beaujolais Nouveau is produced using a winemaking technique called carbonic maceration that results in a fresh and vibrant wine with very low tannins. The fruit that goes into Beaujolais Nouveau fetches a higher price than the fruit for Beaujolais or Beaujolais-Villages wines. Growers benefit from premium pricing and consumers get to enjoy the best fruit of the season!

Beaujolais Nouveau is a French tradition that celebrates the first wine of a new vintage. This fresh and fruity wine is bottled only a few weeks after harvest and is meant to be enjoyed immediately upon release.

The perfect Thanksgiving wine!
